31 Days of Pure Joy: Day 2~ The Finding

To find joy or not to find joy--that is the question!

     What no joy looks like:
  • Angering easily
  • Becoming moody because it's rainy outside
  • Freaking out when something goes wrong (ie. dish breaking)
  • Walking instead of running/skipping
  • Stressing
  • Not asking for advice or a change in perspective from a trustworthy friend
  • Feeling drained, useless, bored, or overly-busy
  • Frowning more than smiling
  • Not going to God with troubles
  • Not trusting God with outcomes

     What pure joy looks like:
  • Living life to the fullest
  • Taking advantage of last-minute hospitality opportunities
  • Running in the rain
  • Laughing at ourselves when we made silly mistakes
  • Singing EVERYWHERE (Just about half of the verses in the Bible with the word joy in them also mention singing)
  • Living with open hands (what's yours is mine, the Lord gives and the Lord takes away...blessed be the name of the Lord)
  • Being thankful for dandelions, family, poor test score, or sickness because He works all things together for our good (see Romans 8:28)
  • Developing the imagination (WE DO ALL HAVE ONE)
  • Knowing how to BE more and DO less
I am confident that you and I both seek joy. If you don't, you can stop reading this 31 Days series right here. Want to know the secret?

The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
~Psalm 19:8

The B-I-B-L-E. Yes, that's the book for me! I stand alone on the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E. BIBLE! It's true! Dig in to the Word today. Right now. Get off your device and start receiving the joy that His commands bring to those who eagerly seek the wisdom of His Word. If you don't have a single idea of where to start, try Philippians. It's short, instructive, insightful, and joyful!

Do you want to know the answer to the question I asked yesterday?

The question was how many verses in the Bible mention JOY or JOYful (not including rejoice or and form of it).

There are 242 verses that mention JOY or JOYful in the Bible.

The closest answer given in the comments was 799, so Emme wins! Thank you for all the answers, but I hate to say that most of you were WAY over (799-1,013!) Did I make it sound like a ginormous number?

Ms. Robyn made two guesses, so her second guess (13) did not count really, but she will get a white tissue paper flower. ;) It was technically closest to 242!

If you did not receive a tissue paper flower but would like one, make it! Click here to view the tutorial I made a tutorial for you. You're welcome!

Don't forget to read your Bible. Don't procrastinate. Hump Days are always busy, but this is more important!
