31 Days of Pure Joy: Day 5~ The Serving

"In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity." ~2 Corinthians 8:2

The serving...this is the "go do it!" weekend challenge, the call. Paul tells the Corinthians of some believers who were in the midst of a very severe trial, but they had pure JOY despite this. Although they were weak and poor during this time, they gave what they had (just like the widow in Mark 12:41-44).

Joy can't help but overflow. I can safely bet that you are "in the midst of a very severe trial." Even if you are going through little trials, you can apply this.

Let your joy and poverty, your emptiness and nothingness, and all you are "well up in rich generosity."

Spread this pure joy by serving others. Don't fake it. Just radiate it! If you are suffering, be honest, but look for help in God, His Word and the wisest of His people. Then get busy living more, being more, and doing everything we do in this strength, which is the joy of the Lord (Nehemiah 8:10b).

What can you generously give? (Now is a good excuse to declutter!)

What can you let go of? (Now is a good time to stop worrying or doubting!)

What can you be thankful for? (Now is a good time to read this post!)

Who can you serve? (Now is a good time to go do the dishes or give a bouquet of flowers to your neighbor or write a sweet note to your BFF who needs encouragement!)

Who can you love on with Jesus's love? (Now is a good time for bear hugs and a chocolate on your daughter's pillow!)

Who can you spread some joy to? (Now is a good time to spontaneously have someone over for pizza! Click HERE for our favorite homemade pizza recipe!)

Pictures of my brother's Goofy drawing at a chalk festival. He didn't win, but all the kids liked his drawing the best because they could relate to it and know what it was since it was at their level, not high and mighty.
How can you use your talent to brighten someone's day? (Now get off this device and do it!)
