Casual Décor

It's your first time to be at their house. It's big on the outside and even bigger on the inside. You walk in slowly. The people are friendly. You start to feel at ease.

But when dinner starts, you're led into a formal dining room. There are a trillion forks and glasses on the table. The upholstered chairs are stiff, and the wallpaper is fancy. It's lovely...and terrifying. You realize you're going to have a hard time getting comfortable.

You're think about joking, "Cue Downton Abbey music!" or looking over your shoulder to see if Carson is measuring the distance between place settings. He'll probably hyperventilate over your terrible American etiquette.

After the evening is over, you rush into your house and throw the pillows around, make the chairs around the table crooked, and rumple your blankets.

That stiffness in the dining room is not cozy! In fact, it's the opposite of cozy. And you know it.

These problems can't be solved by anyone but the people who live in the home. Incorporating more casual décor in your home is perfect for lessening any Downton Abbey stiffness. I mean, this is the 21st century.

Enough rambling; here's the action point.

Action point: Identify any overly pompous or regal décor in your space and replace it with something cozier.

    1. Well, first you can select either Wordpress or Blogger. I have Blogger, which is connected to a Google account. All you have to do is go to your Blogger/Google account and hit New Blog.

Then it's just a little bit of designing and a whole lot of writing, researching, and learning. :)
