Why I Love Making Someone's Day

Maybe it's the extraverted feeling in me (ENFJ). I love making someone's day. I love doing little things that spark joy and add a little ray of sunshine to their lives. It can sound absurdly silly sometimes, even to me.

But I know that these little things add up to a lifetime legacy of love.

Most of these things take so little effort from me and give so much happiness to others that sometimes it's hard not to do them.

Why cut the biscuits in circles when you can cut them in hearts? It reminds people that the food they are eating was made with love.

Why not spell out good morning by the lemon water station? The Bananagrams letters are right there in a bowl.

Pom-pom garlands take seconds to hang. Candles take seconds to light. Wildflowers (weeds) take seconds to pick.

I believe that the little things we do for others count in the kingdom of God.

"And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward." Matthew 10:42

If you look back on this blog, a lot of what I showcase are little but beautiful things. Today is a celebration of those things!

What little things make your day? How can you shine in others' lives today? Let me know in the comments below. (It will make my day.)

  1. I also love the small things. I feel rushed and overwhelmed so much of the time, but if I can look a checker in the eye and ask, "how's your day been going?" in a sincere voice, then I've connected. Yesterday at work someone apologized for a typo, and I replied, "It's olay, I cam handel typosss.", and just like that, she replied laughing, and I knew that brought a smile to just a typical transaction.
