"Be Yourself"

People say, "Be yourself." That's great and all, but what does that mean when you're still figuring out who you are?

We're young. We're confused about our own personalities, the way we like things, and why we react the ways we do. We're still learning whether we like routine or adventure, or a little bit of both. We're finding out that certain personalities ruffle us. We're discovering that we're actually introverts or actually extroverts.

We just don't know how to be ourselves.

It's good advice for adults. How can we do it though? I think the best thing we can do is be our best self right now. Because our right now will be what we think of one day as our growing up years. We're developing into certain kinds of people, but we still have control over so much of how we think and what we do with our lives.

So, the next time someone says, "Just be yourself," be the best you that you can be. It will be good enough, and you might just discover another little piece of who you truly are.
